I would say it is front. But if you pop your hood you can check. If the engine is sideways with the exhaust in the front, it is front wheel drive. If the engine is turned front to back (like a truck), it is rear wheel drive.

First of all The toyota carolla for the years of 1985-1987 would be Rear Wheel drive as some say before this engine is stright with the car not sideways. Also if you have ever seen the Initial D movie they use a 1986 toyota carolla(treuno in japan) and as ou can see its RWD

The standard Toyota Corolla was a front wheel drive vehicle, however if you have the Corolla SR5, then it's a rear wheel drive.
What meddlerus has said about popping the hood and looking is the easiest way to determine if your Corolla is front or rear wheel drive.

The coupe version was rear wheel drive, the sedan version was front wheel drive
