He has cp and epilepsy and is being treated for pneumonia in the hospital right now. I am worried that he might be getting too many meds for the seizures. He is on Keppra, Topamax, and Clonazepam. During the day he is difficult to wake. Doc's seem reluctant to reduce meds. He doesn't eat now. Help?

If you don't feel comfortable with this doctor find another one, until you find someone that you feel comfortable with.

Seizures in infants can be fatal, the priority for the doctors is to prevent seizure at all cost, so the meds he is on sound appropriate. As for not eating, that is more likely due to the pnuemonia, and as long as he is getting fluids he will be alright. They need to support him thru the pnuemonia, once that is gone, his appetite will pick up and he will eat.

please put faith in your doctors.....they are trying to do the best for your baby.......there may be risks to taking him off the medicine right now and they dont want to add to the difficulty that he is already having.....sleep is the best thing for an infant when they are that sick.....their tiny bodies will recover better if they arent in pain. The doctors are doing the best they can for your baby. Put your faith in God and the doctors ability to know the best course of treatment....I know it is difficult to watch your baby go through this but it will get better if you just have faith. God Bless you and your baby. Hope he gets better soon.
