Would you prefer to be single the rest of your life and laugh with your best guy friend, or married to someone you were with for nine years and left you out of the blue, but wants forgiveness and wants to come back home..??

You were married for 9 years?

If in fact you were married for 9 years I would think you could give him time to talk about what he did but he did leave you and if he cheated on you that releases you from that vow and you are free to remarry.

Single and laughing. No contest. The first guy had his chance. Clearly I was happy without him.

I am a married Christian. One can forgive someone without putting oneself in the position to be hurt again (think of it in the case of a Christian women who has been abused--of course she is called to forgive the abuser, but she doesn't have to live with him).

Thanks for reading and God bless!

As a Christian Jesus preached forgiveness but tended to stay away what exactly to do in relationships. This really depends on what type of person you are. Humans crave companionship but not at the expence of their own happiness and self worth. I think you need to sit down and answer this question for yourself because no one here is qualified to do that for you. Personally I would forgive and slowly rebuild my trust whith that other person and take it one step at a time. Nothing in life has to be rushed.

Honestly I have been married twice and if I had to pick and choose I would go with the single for the rest of my life for a long term best friend.

it depends but i think i would just hang out with my best friend who wants someone that doesn't want them even if they have come back he i am sure didn't think he could just come back maybe if you two went to councling and took stuff slow at first because even though he says he knows what he wants he did leave which meant something wasn't going right don't let him come home but set up date nights for a while and get to know each other again and see if he still wants to come home after a couple of monthes or weather you want him there sounds like your self esteem got trampled by him i wish you luck in anything you decide to do because after all its your life and you only know whats right for you

i'd prefer to be single and have a decent guy friend than be married for all that time then LEFT!
i think the laughter's worth more than the heartache - even if my exhusband did want forgiveness.

honestly, being a christian there are callings to be single for God's purposes but if one enjoys and be happy to be single there's nothing wrong with it as well but if that kind of relationship happens to me i'll rather be single but might not be the rest of my life cause there are still hope in life and if it's only God's calling for me than it will be for the rest of my life.

reality, the situation that you describe happened to me as well but not for such period of time but i choose not to continue the relationship to be good to myself - save myself being hurt further and now happily married.

Not really enough info here. Plan-A sounds best. Just look at how you described it - I think that says something about your true feelings.
