@jade: hahaha awesome metaphor

Anyway, thanks guys for the responses. It's great to hear that you can't really "second-hand eat" by smelling. Yay!

No, it can't. It isn't like being around cigarettes. You have to eat the food and during the process of digestion all of the fats and cholesterol then enter your blood stream. Smelling it isn't the same thing. If it was we would all be in trouble.

Natural Cholesterol Guide?

Actually there are studies that by simply looking at delicious food, our bodies will begin secreting insulin -- the fat storing hormone.

Want a similar experience? Think of what happens when you think of eating a sour pickle. Your saliva starts flowing even though you haven't eat a thing.

Low carb diets like Kimkins work on the principle of keeping insulin levels very low with specific foods.

How exactly would that work? If you don't eat it it won't affect your cholesterol levels. If your statement were true, we would all be extremely unhealthy and obese people. It's like putting a book under your pillow when you're sleeping and the next day you know its contents.

Nope, smelling and being around it can't hurt you, or add to your body's levels.
