If i were in your shoes, then personally i would not date the young man, don't get me wrong their are a lot of 24 year old guys who are quite mature for their ages. You have to think of your son first and foremost, he is at the age where puberty is setting in, and he has to deal with all sorts of things that teen age boys have to deal with.
If this 24 year old wants to date you, then he will understand that your son comes first, regardless, and when your son is able to look after himself emotionally etc, then you could consider a date with this young man.
To be quite honest with you, he's to close for comfort (neighbour).

Okay so some people are thinking he's gonna rob you, so shortly into the date, mention you've left instruction that any of your belongings are missing by the end of the date, then the police will be called, forensic evidence will be taken, body cavity seaches if necessary. His reaction will surely be revealing.

At the end of the day, do you fancy him? If there's a spark, then see where it goes. But if not, then distance yourself politely because it is tricky when things are awkward with a neighbour.

you know what usually I wouldnt say anything, but you have a 13 years old son, and he should no matter what be your first primary priorty, and the guy is 24 years old, he is young himself and he will never ever be a father to your son, look for an older man, older than you even, he might be nice very nice, but he want be good for this relationship, he can easily change , plus he is young , don't do it, even you'll feel as time passes it wrong , go for an older guy , even if he has children the older man it can even be better.

It's only a drink. Bit early to make assumptions about what's going to work out, what's not going to work out, what your son will wear to your wedding....!

Seriously, maybe he wants to ask you out for a drink because he has a delicate neighbourly matter to discuss with you, like "please could you stop far*ing so loud when you wake up in the morning, I can hear you through the fireplace".

A 24 year old guy does not sound the type who'd be a long term partner. Use him as a f*ckbuddy if you feel it would be better.

You can go out with and just let him know it is purely on a platonic level if you are not interested in him.You can have a drink and still be just good neighbors.

Go for it because you never know, my ex was a lot older than me.
Try it or kick yourself when you see them with someone else.
Good luck.

NEVER DATE NEIGHBORS

they are good for bootie calls and friends with benefits, but it is too easy to get jealous about stuff
