I know from first hand experience in the state of Louisiana if there have never been custody papers drawn up and entered into the court then either parent can take the child and leave and the cops can do nothing about this. The parent has to get papers drawn up stating they want custody of that child and go before the judge with why they should have it over the other parent. Also, in Louisiana the parent that usually files for it first usually ends up getting it. So if you have the kids you dont have to let them leave with the other parent. If the other parent already has them then when you get them for visitation then you dont have to give them back.

Get an attorney, then go to court and get a custody agreement worked out, as well as an order for him to stay in town with the kids until it's resolved.

You have to go to court and file for an emergency hearing along with papers to stop your ex from taking the kids away without a court hearing. Do it fast and they should give you an emergency order stopping her from taking the kids. You can then serve here these papers yourself or have a policeman go with you to do it.
If she violates this order, she will get into a lot of trouble and take a chance on giving up any custody she may be entitled too. RUN DON'T WALK TO THE COURT HOUSE!!!!

If your Ex doesn't have a custody order, then DO NOT LET HIM IN THE HOUSE. If he starts any trouble get straight on to the Police. Then as soon as possible get a solicitor to have a custody order hearing. I am sure the court will grant you the custody.

Being a single dad myself i would recommend finding out whether or not you have FULL PARENTAL RIGHTS. This gives you the exact same rights as the mother and if it ends up in court the judge will usually listen to where the kids want to live so dont get involved in a mud slinging match. Let her do that and you will have no problems
Good Luck and all the best to ALL single dads, we're just as good as single mums and alot of the time better!!!

Well, you need to get a lawyer and go to court. Get in the papers though when you do this that she can't take them out of state because I knew someone who had a custody agreement, but then the mom (who had primary custody), moved out of state and the father couldn't hardly afford to fly his daughter back to him once a month. It was very difficult on him. Go to court and I would suggest doing this quickly!!

how long have you been apart is it a long time where you have had regular access or a v short time and had none ? how big a part have you played in the lives of your kids if its a lot then no judge will allow them to be used in this way is there a reason for this behaviour
the only thing you can do is get legal advice very quickly dont allow it to happen you have to fight for your kids sake if not your own they need two parents not just the one
