The cell phone is the least of my distractions while I am driving. In fact driving while on the phone oftens makes me slow down and be more cautious. If people want to remove distractions from the car they would need to take out the radio, the cd player, the food and hte kids. Not to mention anyone else in the car. So no it should not be illegal.

Most accidents caused by cell phone use are by drivers that can't walk and chew gum at the same time. If you are one of those persons who can, use an earbud, or hands free phone. Only answer and don't initiate any calls unless in emergency, and get off the road if you can.
No, I don't think it should be illegal, but what can you do with people who don't use common sense?

Sometimes, it is necessary, like if traffic is really bad and you're gonna be delayed. If they could somehow have a law that banned cell phone use except in emergencies, that'd be great. However, how can they tell if it was an emergency or not. I suppose it's not all that hard to pull over and make a call, so then I think it should be banned.

In some countries it is illegal already to use your cell phone while driving. I think it is very dangerous because is causes accidents.

i think cell phones are necessary and you should be able to use them while driving but only with a headset or speakerphone. i don't think cell phones are any more distracting than changing your CD, putting on makeup, eating/drinking, reading/writing, or the many other things people do when they are supposed to be driving. cell phones shouldn't be illegal just restricted on how you use them when driving.

in my opinion use of mobile phones while driving should be illegal. many people will say it depends on the situation, but you dont know the situation until you pick up anyway and if you are expecting a phone call you should not be driving in the first place.

Not a great idea. in an emergency your response would be a great deal slower if your holding a moblie phone to your ear while driving and in many instances it can be a matter of milli.. seconds in your response time to avoid a collision that can be the difference between your survival or you being seriously injured . I saw this theory being tested by a professional driver on telly

It shouldn't be illegal. There are many distractions while driving. People need to use their cell phones. Just pay attention. Educate people, don't criminilize everything.

I don't know about making it illegal. I do know I hate driving behind or next to someone on their phone. They never keep a consistent speed or stay in their lane.

Where I live it's illegal and I agree. People can get easily distracted and we should be as safe as possible. If one needs to make a phone call, he/she should stop the car somewhere.
