I think your hair sounds beautiful ... so I wouldn't change it. Plus as you know, once you dye your hair it's a never ending battle. Dealing with roots is a pain, and it damages your hair! I like to keep my hair it's natural colour. I've had highlights before and I'll never do it again. If I want a change, I'll style it differently or just go with a new cut.

It is your hair, but why do you think that you need to color it. Is it to join the "in crowd"? I think strawberry blonde hair is beautiful, and I cannot conceive of anyone wanting to change the color of their hair. Chemical coloring will take a toll on your hair over the long haul. Please make sure that you are ready for the consequences. Females in general think that they need to change things all of the time - don't get caught in that loop. I have seen a lot of women color their hair multiple times and end up with premature gray (I think brought on by all the chemical activity). The lighter the hair, the more sensitive it is to the chemical bombardment. When you start graying, you will have plenty of time to dye your hair. In my day, high schoolers didn't ask to dye their hair - they didn't even think about it. Please just change your hair style if you want something different, and leave off with the color change - you can just change your wardrobe or something like that. I know that you want something different, but dying your hair is more of a problem than you think, and you will never recover your original color or sheen if you do. Good luck with your decision, but I am with your Mom here.

I love strawberry blonde hair. It's gorgeous. But I also think no one is happy with what they've got.
If you just want a slight change, why don't you get some highlights in it? Go to a salon where they can suggest what shade of highlights works best with your hair.
If you want a drastic change, it might not look so good, but it'll always grow back. Tell your mom next time, just to get her on the same page, but you're in high school, so you're old enough to know what you want and to be able to experiment with your hair.

It's your hair so you should do what you want with it! Your hair sound gorgeous the way it already is but if you want a change go ahead and change it. What i suggest is not make a huge change cause then you might not like it. Start small like with a highlite or something and if you like that color then get more. As for your mom she just doesn't want to do things without telling her first. Tell her you would like this for a change because you don't want the same look.

As a hairdresser... Do not use the temp dye or the rinse in dye especially if your hair is somewhat damaged as pretty much all of ours are. With hair that light some of the color may stick in longer than you want it.
What I would do is tell your mom that you would like highlights. I'm sure she would not have a problem with that. It is not like you want to color your GREEN. I would suggest a light honey brown. It will give your hair more depth and defiantly having you looking fabulous.

My ex-wife has natural strawberry blond hair. She would apply a toner to lighten it. She still does this. Really looks good. She has shoulder length hair.

I think that if you want to dye your hair than dye it. Your hair is part of what expresses you. If you want to add some highlights or dye all of your hair than try it. Do what makes you happy and what you think will look the best.

It sounds beautiful the way it is. But it's your hair. If you want to do then do it. It will always grow out.
