There are prayers like the "Our Father" given to us by Jesus. And there are prayer books available from churches and christian book stores. 99% of my prayers are just me talking to God. Like I am talking to friend next to me. I don't use big words or make it sounds like I am intelligent, I'm a person who just talks to Him throughout the day. Prayer consists of thanks, asking for blessings & saying you are sorry. You can use any words you want. If I am asked to pray in front of a group, I have a book of devotions in my purse that I use or I thank God ofr what we learned that day and ask everyone to join me in the "Our Father". God doesn't care what words you use as long as they come from your heart.

Just like public speaking, many people are very uncomfortable praying out loud in front of others. They're afraid they may say the wrong thing, or ramble, or whatever. Others feel the prayer must be "just right."
So, I believe refusing to pray aloud is more an indication of a person's discomfort than anything else.

well you can look at it as practice makes perfect..but its not what you practice but actually the fact that you have implemented prayer in your life. To implement somthing means to put it into practice. ( not in the content of rehearsing exactly what will be said) although there is a formula in prayer we should go by...everytime we prayer or go before the Father. the bible we are to enter into his gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and into his courts with praise...then we should ask for forgiveness and began to ask God for whatever it is we want or need... so you would start out by thanking God for all he has done..is doing and id going to do...then praise him...lifting him up telling him how good he is and "strokng his ego" if I may.....then ask for forgiveness and then tell him wha you want..you will find that your prayer life will increase...and that the words ill seem to just flow out.. remember though you have to sconstant ly read the word of God....otherwise you will have nothing in you to come out...

You dont have to practice. Just speak from your heart.
Here is a sample:
Dear Savior, thank you for your suffering and dying for us on Calvary's cross. We thank you for taking the guilt, the curse, and the punishment for our sins. We thank you for your victory over the grave and all it brings to us. We thank you, Lord, for your perfect substitution. Now help us appreciate the blessings we have because of your death and resurrection. Help us demonstrate our thankfulness by our actions and service--not just our words. Help our actions direct others to you, their Savior.

No you shouldn't have to practice a prayer. Prayer is a heartfelt conversation with God. How do you practice that?

personally, I just talk to GOD as I would a close friend whenever I pray. HE knows and understands even when others may not.

You don't. Otherwise it's not praying to God, it's reciting something.
