I was getting in line to check out at Walmart and there was a practically empty cart in front of me. It just had a few items in it and the woman who was checking out in front of the empty cart was about to finish up. I looked around for anyone who would have been using the cart and saw no one around. The cart wasn't totally in line, so I slid the cart over to the side. I put my 2 items up on the counter and the clerk was ringing me up, and I hear this, "Why you move my buggy?". It was said just like that. I looked at the woman standing there and I politely said, "I didn't think it was anyone's cart. So I moved it." It irritated me a bit. If a person forgot something while shopping, I feel it is best to get out of line and get the item they forgot and then re-enter the line. What do you think?

I think what you did was just fine. If someone is near it you can ask if it's theirs. But if no one is around then you are next in line. I forget things once in a while and I leave the line with my cart and know that I will be last in line when I get back. There's no saving a spot with a cart.

It's the persons fault for leaving their cart in line. I've been standing in line and remembered that I needed something. I either say, 'screw it, it's not worth getting out of line', or I just go back and get it with my cart. You did the right thing, some people are just ignorant and only think about themselves.

You had every right to move the shopping cart. If she forgot something then I agree that she should have taken her cart with her to go get the items. You were 100% correct in what you did.

I would have moved the cart as well. The other shopper should have been courteous enough to remove the cart from your path when she saw you move it. I think if she had forgotten something, her cart needed to be in her possession while she went on her search for the missing item

Youre right you should have a right to move somones cart out of the way because you didnt see anyone standing in line so i think that is stupid to be blamed.

This sounds like an appropriate action. She should have taken her shopping cart with her and gone to the back of the line.

It was rude of her to think that the line was to all wait for her to get back to purchase her items. I think you did what was right. The other lady was done. You were after the unattended cart so you had every right to take your turn. She shouldn't have left her place.

I agree with you. There are people that get in line, then run back to get something else leaving their cart in the line. If you need to go back to get something else take your cart with you.

I totally agree if you leave the line you should have to get in line again. Why should the whole line of customers have to wait for someone to go back and get something. People just have no consideration for anyone else.
