My friend's son, Max, who is nine years old, lives on nothing but chicken and popcorn. The peditrician says he is developing normally, but it drives my friend crazy! I wanted to help her without pushing her with suggestion.

Well, I figure he's eating something ese for breakfast? She's the mommy and she decides what food to buy. She can decide to stop buying popcorn, sugar cereal, soda and other junk food.

Pushing kids to eat never works and sets them up for weight problems later on in life (I see this a lot on my diet website). But offering a selection of healthy foods at meal times works.

The perfect snack for kids is a bowl full of fresh fruit. I also keep a tray of cut veggies in the fridge (they add salsa or dressing for dip). We don't drink soda, but I have pitchers of iced tea that they love (all different flavors).

I know it's hard to bring things up with a friend and it's ultimately her decision. Maybe mention in conversation that you read this interesting article about kid's eating ... blah, blah, blah.

Tell your friend to make chicken pies with mashed potatoes inside and chicken gravy, try and make meals that have chicken inside but can not be picked out off.
Eating alot of chicken is not bad tho, is very good for a balanced meal.

It's a little too late, now, as he has already established a bad eating pattern. She has to do some corrective work, first, and that isn't going to be easy - she has to insist he eat properly and refuse to prepare only the foods that he wants.

Doctors say to just let them eat what they'll eat. If all he wants is chicken then give it to him. Kids know what they need and when they need it.
