My Husband and I were going to name our child (if it was a boy) Johannes meaning "God's Gracious Gift," but we found out that we're having a girl. What is a german girls name that means the same thing?

Anything that would have good meaning is what we're looking for. We feel that after a year of trying to conceive we're finally getting our prayers answered. Thanks!

I can't tell you the girl name for that meaning, but I would assume it's Johanna.

My friend's family is German, and their daughter's name is Katrina...which I think is pretty. It is the German version of Katherine, and means "pure maiden".

Other female German names I like are Ava, Emily/Emma, and Madison. They all have German origins. Oh, and Liese...it means "beloved by God".

On hand, I know of Adalia which means 'Refuge of God, just, noble one.' I know that isnt what you asked for, but I guessed that you might be interested in it by meaning. Since it refers to God. :) Good luck and congrats. :D
