Brown an onion. Brown a lb. of meat. Drain. Add 2 cans tomato sauce, 1 can tomato paste, 1 can diced tomatoes. Stir in salt, pepper, oregano, and basil and garlic salt. You can also add a chopped clove of garlic. Add a little sugar. Add a little olive oil. If it looks too thick, add a little water. Sorry I don't know amounts. I have been making this over 25 years and just use how much I think I need.

those cans of Hunts spaghetti sauce are dirt cheap. But then I dice very very very small, zucchini, mushroom, carrot, onion, tomatellos, chop up a few green onions, couple spoonfuls minced garlic (optional), and I even slosh in a dash of soy sauce. Pinch or two of oregano, and Italian mixed spice. Little bits of green, red, yellow pepper, and anything else that will dice up small. I toss the whole thing then in my pressure cooker, but if you don't have one you can put it in any large stovetop pan and just simmer it all long and slow.. You'll know when it's ready.
Of course, if you want to reeeally do sauce "joosta likea Mama usta makea" you have to get a ton of soft tomatoes, cut in small pieces, put in your herbs and spices, pressure cook it, or simmer awhile. Cool, and put through the blender seeds and all. Then you can add all the above -mentioned fine diced vegetables, and, either bring it up to the boil in the pressure cooker; or simmer the heck out of it on the stovetop till everything tastes blended. You would add salt at some point to your own taste of course.
Dont forget a dash of fresh Parmesan on top of each serving. Break out the Chianti, and ... Mangare

well I have a recipe for Sauce(Gravy)... First brown meat, Pork ( I get country style ribs about 4 of them) a handfull of beef stew meat, and about a pound of sweet italian sausage. Brown meat with garlic. You can Brown them in the pot you are going to use to make it in or I have been making my sauce(gravy) in a crock pot. After the meat is cooked transfer meat, garlic and some of the juices to the crockpot or if you used a large pot. Add your canned tomatoes . I use puree. Some people use puree and crushed tomatoes. I use plain.. with no spices added. Let it simmer all day. In the crockpot I put it on low for 6 hours. Occasionally stiring.Leave the top so that some of the steam excapes so that your sauce(gravy) isn't watery.

I've made mine for years.
Roma tomatoes (run through Foley Food Mill and strained through cheese cloth IF you like your sauce smooth rather than chunky).
Garlic (about 6 cloves, crushed in Garlic Press)
Onions (about 2 medium, diced)
Sugar (1 Tbl)
Salt (pinch)
Worchestishire Sauce (1 Tbl)
Chili Sauce (1 Tbl)
Frank's Hot Sauce (few dashes)
Red cooking wine (3 Tbls)
Simmer for hours! Stirring so it never burns or sticks.
Sautee fresh mushrooms, ground sausage and ground beef in Olive Oil. Drain well. Add to sauce and simmer another 40 minutes or so!
Add 1 or 2 small cans of tomato paste to thicken as desired. Heat thoroughly & serve over cooked pasta.
