Why do people always give thumb's downs for questions and answers that are obviously only jokes?

I got reported for what was a fun question - I asked for volunteers for a back scrub as I had just run a bath!
What a load of killjoys- I missed out on some really tempting offers because of it!

Yes, I've also noticed that many answers are irrelevant, ill considered and just plain rude but sadly, reading through some of them is to view a snap-shot of our society. The aim seems not to be an honest attempt at enlightenment but more a chance to show how vulgar we have become.

I will if you like, but do you really care that much. The level of intelligence you will find here, isn't that great. It might be more of a recommendation of your imput, if they give you thumbs down.
