According to a speech that I heard Kerry give two years ago, they get to choose. Kerry, said he has Blue Cross Blue Shield. However, much like a corporation, you can be given choices among different providers.

The following information might get you started. The easiest way to find out for sure, I would think, would be to contact your local US Senator’s office and ask them. I’ve included a link to a page where you can find your local senator. If that doesn’t work, you can try emailing or calling the US Office of Personnel Management. According the about.com article I’ve linked to below, Senators get the same retirement and health benefit plans available to other federal employees. I’ve linked to a list of health plans available to federal employees in the Washington, DC area.

Hope this helps!

In NY, the state ones have one administered by New York that's a form of United Healthcare.... As for the ones that go to D.C. - email one and ask... They're all Google-able.
