Anybody had a crown done and can tell me how much u were charge?
to get a crown is it the normal prosedure....... they cut your theeth off put a metal stick in it and a temp.theeth put in until crown comes???
If you have got it done before like that,have you had problems with your crown,should i be worriedto have problems in 10 -20years from now?

Call several dentists and ask. I suspect there's some variance. It will also depend on what type of crown you want, whether you want an stainless or porcelain crown (white). The porcelain costs quite a bit more but looks better.

It may also depend on whether or not you need a root canal first. I did, but I'm not sure that is always the case. I was told to expect a crown to last 10 years but the one I have is more than 20 years old (porcelain). It is now showing some minor cracking but no one has suggested it is urgent to replace it.

You might be able to find one of those discount dental plans (look on the internet) and save yourself some money. Typically those plans (they are not really insurance) offer big discounts if you use a participating dentist and run $10 - 30 a month. I'd sign up, pay for a month, use it and cancel it if it saved me a ton of money.

The one crown I got was $700 plus $600 for the root canal. That was done in CA, but it seems that Austin's current pricing is about the same as where CA was (CA is now much higher).

So my guess is that is about the range.
