Yeah I get it...we have to be the ones to save the world...who else are they going to ask (and tax). Since we put our noses in everyone elses business we must also pay to save them. (As if we didn't already)

It's not saving the world from global warming - it's saving people from the effects of global warming. if the ice shelf in greenland melts we're looking at a 20ft rise in sea levels. think of where the UK cities are... At mouths of rivers - by the coast. I wouldn't hold out much hope for Lots of London, Brighton, Liverpool & lots of other UK cities- not to mention around the world--- Holland in europe, not to mention places like Bangladesh.
There's be food shortages, drought, flooding, the spread of disease. And why do we have to do something about it? well the west uses more energy per head of population than anywhere else.
Look, i identify with some of what you're saying - workers will pay rather than the large corporations driving global warming. I agree wholeheartedly. The Petro-chemical industry is driving global warming though SUV's and use of fossil fuels. They should be the ones that are taxed. But don't turn this into an argument against the effects of global warming. because you can bet that it'll be the workers that suffer when the effects start kicking in for real.

Because we are the most industrialized nation in the world and we do the most polluting. It is pollution that causes global warming. Maybe if we took the billion a week it costs to keep this stupid war going and the trillion we have borrowed from China, we could find a way to stop global warming, end poverty and fund universal health care.

Because we're the ones who won't get out of our cars & take a bus. You all have to take your cars out with you - even down the road for some shopping - so therefore, the onus is on you to cut back on the emissions that are harming the planet.

It pretty much shows the point of the global warming scare and reveals the true motives, more socialism, in this case through more taxes.

good question. (i find it funny to read all the regurgitated earthday propaganda from others.) if we weren't here at all...global warming would still occur. maybe slower but it would still happen. one volanic erruption releases more CFC's into the atmosphere than all the people throughout history. i think you hit it right on the head when you said...taxes. money is a good measure of motive. when you apply the money factor to supposed noble agendas, you paint a very different (and interesting and probable) picture.

Automobiles are the major source of pollution today. May be fuel cell powered vehicles in the future can bring down the pollution drastically.
