Hi Yoda:
If they were both in their hay-days of boxing, it would be without a doubt Mike Tyson. Rocky Marciano was a paper champion who's opponents were either no names or has beens. If you have ever read a biography on Rocky Marciano you might be a bit shocked at what you learn.
I am not a big fan of Mike Tyson but when he started out he was going in the right direction with Cus Dimatto and showing what a true champion was. it was to bad he went from Champ to chump in such a short period.
Thanks
Randy

I would disagree with some of the answerer's. Rocky Marciano would prevail. Character, Heart, and the Relentlessness of Marciano would carry him to a victory by late round TKO or a decision. Tyson didn't have the character to dig down and win tough fights in the late rounds. Marciano wouldn't be intimidated or scared of Tyson.

Marciano never lost period. He beat Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles twice. Archie Moore, Jersey Joe Walcott, Roland LaStarza twice, Rex Layne, Kid Matthews among his 49 wins with 43 kayos and try as people may you cannot deny that he had amazing punching power, endurance, and stamina. Tyson never beat anyone significant in his career except a terrified Michael Spinks and getting thumped by Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield twice, and Lennox Lewis so where does he merit consideration with Rocky Marciano to begin with? Rocky would have dug deep and prevailed over Tyson and win by the 8th round as Tyson would not be able to bully or intimidate the Rock!

Sorry Toughguy and Brent, I'm with the Tyson crowd here.
Iron Mike would have been too fast for Marciano.
Period.
So fast in fact, that factors like heart, determination and will would never have been factors.
*additional*
lizardhead - Tyson had no chin? It took Holyfield, Douglas and Lewis 11, 10 and 8 rounds to get Tyson outta there, with some of the most hellacious leather I've ever seen thrown in any fight.

in all honesty i would say the tyson of today would still be too much for a prime rocky marciano but a tyson marciano match with both fighters in their prime i `d say rocky wouyld do very well to last till the 2nd rd, tyson would have killed him. marciano`s great victories???ezzard charles?how many stitched did the rock need?jersey joe?just how old was joe?and he put the rock down, archie moore he had rock in trouble also good thing for rock ole mongoose was pushing 40.

tyson, fearsome as he was, with all the physical advantages, still had a glaring weakness. he had no chin, and he knew it. bonecrusher or tucker could have taken tyson out if they had fought like they were capable of. when tyson got hit, his whole world changed- even when he was in his prime. rocky has to be given a chance because he would hit tyson, and he wouldnt buy the myth of tysons invincibility... for those of you who hate marciano- joe louis himself said he couldnt have beaten rocky even when he was in his prime. of course, he was only the heavyweight champ of the world, not a boxing expert like y'all
