Most libraries will have books about signing. If you are trying to learn ASL (American Sign Language), I highly recommend www.aslpro.com. It has multiple dictionaries and also games to help you learn signs and fingerspelling.
Just learning the signs isn't enough, but it is a good start. Try taking an ASL class if you can. ASL is not just a manual form of English, there are grammatical structures and concepts that you can't learn from a website. But if you talk to your friend, maybe he/she can teach you. Definitely look at this site, to get started.

There is a book that I used to have that can teach you sign language...Its called The Joy of Signing and is by Lottie Reikhoff..it breaks down sign language into the simplest terms and even explains how the "sign" or gesture came about. Its really all on common sense. I got mine from e-bay so start there. Good luck!!

Though I am not familiar with British Signs, countries do have different words in Sign Language. If you want American Sign Language learn it in America. And as to the ASL it really depends on who you plan to talk to. Some deaf use English sign (SEE-sign)and others use Pidgin Signed English(PSE). Hope this helps.

Just do a search on sign language and you'll find all the resources you need.

Type "sign language" in your search engine. You are spelling "sign" wrong so that may be your problem.
