If you knew it would please the Gods, would you live without lifes little luxuries? Cable, internet, electricity, running water, motor vehicles? Would you sell everything and buy a small plot of land and grow your own food? Wash your clothes by hand...ect..?

I agree with Arcadian in that I would want to know for sure if that is really what my deities would want me to do. It doesn't seem like something they'd ask for.

But, assuming that this really is what they want me to do, then yes, I would do it. There hasn't been that many generations since that was the normal way of life. I am sure that my husband would feel the same way. My mother was raised Mennonite and his was raised Amish, so perhaps our outlook on this is a bit different. We try to do things that would please our deities, and I would trust that they'd know what was best for us in the long run.

I already am trying to live a little simpler life. I hunt and fish for meat, have a garden and got a hybrid car. Do burn some wood in the winter for heat.

At some point will be looking at solar panels for the house. do have about 50 secluded acres as well and will be building a little hobbit house up there to spend a lot of time in.

I don't think I would do without electricity but instead use alternative off grid methods of getting it. But i would have no problem washing clothes by hand. Just need my computer and a way to keep my animals warm and happy.

The "gods" I work with don't make absolutes, but do appreciate helping nature out a little.

Absolutely. If I had anything to sell.

I wish I could. Unfortunately, I can't. Alas. I'd never be able to afford the taxes if I didn't go to work every day, and it'd be quite a fat commute if I wanted to find some land where I could actually do all that without disturbing the neighbors.

But I do the best I can to walk gently on the Earth, because it DOES please the Gods. I joined as CSA, so I can part-time farm at least and eat local produce and eggs (I gave up meat) I save energy in my house with all the usual methods, and I'm a big wimp, so I'm currently working up my bicycle stamina in the gym so I can ditch the car and start biking to work - that's my goal for spring. I haven't had cable since I got rid of my husband some time ago. I like books. I save my pennies and I'm going to get myself a solar charger for my laptop for Yule, and later, one for the roof. Our solar index isn't so good here though. Pity I can't build a windmill, but the neighborhood association would have a fit.

The Gods don't want you to deny yourself pleasure though, they want you to enjoy life without damaging the Earth. There are lots of creative ways you can do this, The technology exists. Just most folks don't use it.

I think I'd need to have a very long discussion with the Gods about that - specifically, I'd want to know *why* it would please the Gods. Quite honestly, there's nothing in my religion that would lead me to that conclusion, so I'd want a bit of an explanation. Especially since that would not only cut off "little luxuries" but would prevent me from doing my job - and since my job is (with a little interpretation) a good thing, it'd be a hard sell.

LOL!!! A lot of Christians wouldnt even do that!

They are too used to living the life of luxuries and only the Amish would be able to handle the lifestyle that you would impose upon everyone.

I wish you well..

Pagans simply don't care what the gods think. I'll not give up a damn thing for one. It takes $$$$ to live a comfortable hedonististic lifestyle. And stuff, lots and lots of stuff.
