Well, I don't know what kind of food you wanted but there is a really good upscale soul food restaurant in New Haven called Sandra's Place. You should check it out. Sometimes on the weekends they have live Jazz and the food is wonderful. I drive up there from westchester just to eat there.

For steak, go to Peter Luger's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Zagat gave them a 28 out a possible 30 points for food.

Gramercy Tavern. Great food. Great Service. Great Atmosphere.

Don't take your girlfriend to Peter Luger's -- no atmosphere, it's like eating in a kitchen and the waiters are surly. It is overated.
