I have IBS and have had it since the mid-80's. I have tried all kinds of cleansing programs, including colonics. I think what helps the most is to add fiber to your daily diet. I make flax seed tea: Boil water, put 16 oz. in a mug. Add one tablespoon of flax seed. Leave to steep for twenty minutes. Drink the tea and eat the softened seeds. Chew the seeds very well.
Drink more water during the day.

Eat more apples, fig newtons, anything with fiber. Look at ingredient labels and pick your food for fiber content. Just raise it slowly so your colon can adjust. Fiber has many health benefits. Using it daily without a huge input for cleansing the colon will keep you feeling better all the time without the up and down of going on a program, which can cause a flare up or at least discomfort. Also add some magnesium to your diet. Raise it slowly to 750 mg. 2x's a day.
magnesium can act as a laxative, so do start slowly. It relaxes muscles ad can help prevent spasms. These are things which have helped me. I hope it can help you, too. It is awful to feel like you need to live near the bathroom. I don't have to do that anymore!
