Just sitting here eating a Toffee Apple! reminds me of fun fairs and candy floss and winning crap prizes on the shooting gallery!
(i bought mine at the Farmers market)!

All the fun of the fair (or the farmers market in your case)
They never taste the same when you try and do them yourself (I still have burnt suger of the bottom of a pan that is never going to go - those home made candy floss machines are crap too - they leave big crunchly lumps of sugar in the floss) I recently went to take a bunch of cuddly toys I wone to a charity shop and although they are pretty much new, they wouldnt take them for health and safety reasons.
All that said, I do love a fair, and look forward to rotting my teeth and winning useless prizes in the near future.

I love toffee apples too, but I always feel like they are a real contradiction - cover a really healthy food with something really unhealthy - maybe that's why they taste so good!

Yes I used to love toffee apples too.
However I would never sing their praises to the younger generation.... Many a baby tooth has fallen victim to these so called delights.

Loved the toffee but never enough to last til you got to the middle of the apple. Spangles-you always got them in a selection box at xmas. they were lethal on your mouth too.

Something I did only the other day - to the apples (which I pre-cooked!) I added a tin of black cherry pie filling before putting the top on the pie. (I spread the apples to the outside edge and dropped the cherry in the middle) Result: Rather nice even if I DO say it myself ! ! !

They are lovely, but Sometimes you gash your gums to F**k with sharp shards, and also when your left with plain apple near the end it gets kinda dump

just finished eating one, and no matter how hard i try, i always seem to end up really sticky. i also have a candyfloss machine, but i never have problems with lumps
