living a normal christian life in which you spend nearly as much money (and time) on yourself and your family as do non-christians on things that aren't absolutely necessary (Sattelite TV, nicer clothes, video games) ............

or do you think it would make u and god happier if you had forgone ALMOST ALL unneccesary material goods in this life so that all that money (and time) you would have saved on that could be used to please god, by either helping your fellowman (poverty, sickness) or perhaps all that extra saved effort could bring maybe 7 or 8 more souls into heaven for eternal, ETERNAL salvation and reward?

Obviously the bible does't say you HAVE to live like that in order to receive god's good grace, but if the duration of our lives on this earth is just an barely just a "nanosecond" when compared to the infinite reward we will have, being in gods immacculate prescence for eternity, shouldn't we be compelled to sacrifice whatever we can?

We should all, Christian and non-Christian alike, live without ALL unnecessary material goods. We would all live happier lives for it, and the planet wouldn't be getting abused as it obviously is for our waste.

I believe what you said about living an immaterial life is the way to go. Jesus gave us a great example of a life of service to God and little material wealth. I have found that the times in my life that I had much, I worried about keeping what I had and not using my time and money wisely.

Sure I have no problem living without sattelite TV, fancy clothes and other luxury stuff. We have been doing this for years now and it is awesome. The only debt we have is the Morgage Payment. It is not important what we do other then what we do on the outside should reflect what we believe on the inside.Jesus asked Peter "Do you love me more then these?" That is the bottom line. Do we love Jesus more then these? Does our life show that? I am lower middle class. That does not make me holy or unholy. Jesus makes us holy or unholy depending on our belief in and relationship with him.
May GOD richly bless you.

Gee,you should send this to all those televanglists christians love so much. Oh, and maybe to all those pastors who live in million dollar homes and drive mercedes. And all those churches with swimming pools and gyms and ultra expensive furnishings....
Think of all the GOOD things they could be doing with all that money and you'll see why so many people say that christians tend toward hypocrisy.

Would it be better to give more? of course! So far I just do the tithing and fast offering thing. In my church we don't have a paid clergy, so I don't have to worry about the money just going into someones pockets. I know 10% isn't as good as 100%, but I guess it's a start.

everyone must answer certain questions for themselves as what means wealth to one person may not be the same to another. money does not mean much to me as I have 3 square meals a day, a roof over my head, clothes on my back and the love of GOD, family and friends.

I think it depends on your motive, if God convicts us to sacrifice certain things than yes, in obedience to him we should most definitely do these things. But if you think you can earn a higher standing with him by works than no.
