Go to all classes and take all notes. Writing down the information makes it sink in better.

To study for exams, go through your notes, and condense them - this can be a few iterations: Try to condense the things you don't know by heart. Then take your condensed sheets and read them, then condence them again. At the end of this process, you should be down to a single double sided 'cheat sheet' - For many exams, they allow you to bring in one cheat sheet. Even if the exam is full open book, having the sheet gives you one spot to find all the info you need and will help you write the exam faster.

Don't pull all nighters before the exam. Finish your studying a few hours before sleep the night before. The morning of the exam spend max 30 min reviewing your notes a last time.

I know this is going to sound redundant, but understand the information. Memorizing equations and values will not help you in the end. You do need to know then, but most of the time professors aren't just going to give you a memorization test. If you can understand the physics and reasoning behind the equation, even if you forget something like that for the test, you will be able to come up with it when needed.

Go to class. Stay awake during class. Take good notes. DO THE HOMEWORK. (Even if it's not collected.) Do the reading.

There are probably student groups and such on campus that have study sessions and such. Also, your professor's office hours are a great resource. Go! Ask questions!
