Sounds delicious to me and my fiance, but since brats are much bigger than hot dogs we don't know how to go about it. Any suggestions?

Hot dogs are already cooked and brats are not, so it is a bit more work. Yeah, I suppose you could dip a cooked or smoked/cooked brat into a batter and dep fry it. Anything deep fried is good.

I've never done it, but I would recommend that you (completely, or partially) cook the brats before you batter and fry them. Hot dogs are much thinner, and are already cooked as part of their processing, I believe. If you try to batter and deep-fry a -raw- brat, I think you will be in for a bloody, messy, gross surprise.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.
