Well I can tell you how to find the vaccinations, but I don't know about free ones. The only time I've run across that, myself, it was being offered through my job, a few years ago.

You may find it at your local Health Department (which you can probably find in the Blue Pages of your phone book). I received a shot there last year, but it cost something like $15 -- the same as the copay I'd give to my doctor for the service. Perhaps it depends on your income, in some places.

Several days ago I discovered http://www.flucliniclocator.org and found it very useful. You enter your zip code and select a range of dates you can go. The search engine finds flu clinics being held in your area. The site is operated by The American Lung Association.

Among others, they pointed me to my local Safeway store, whose pharmacy gave me the shot about an hour after I discovered the website. No appointment needed or taken. But again, not free; I was charged $15 after submitting health insurance info. The guy told me it's normally $25.

Good luck.

Call your local health department. Even your local hospital would know.

Call Infoline 211. I believe they're in all states.
