I'm 45 years old and my heart races lately.. I'm also tired and out of breath alot. My chest sometimes feels like it's full of something but it's not...I don"t smoke cigarettes and I don't drink a lot...I don't have very much stress either...any ideas why I feel this way?

I don't want to run to the Dr, if it might be something a woman goes thru at my age....so please give me some advice..

Cara - At 45 with the symptoms of a racing heart, being tired and out of breath, its vital to see your doctor. Likely he will listen to your heart and perhaps advise you to have some tests such as a stress test, blood work, etc. You are not being foolish. There are many, many possible reasons for your symptoms and only a doctor can tell you what may be causing it. Hopefully its something minor that is easily addressed. Good luck.

Stay away from caffine, especially coffee and sodas. Do not eat anything with sugar in it. Why? "Sugar is only one molecule away from cocaine!!"
When you buy cold medicines, only buy the kind that indicates it is for those with high blood pressure(even if you do not have high blood pressure). All other Cold medicines have ingredients in them that makes ones heart race fast.
Doing all this should help alot; but if it doesn't help much at all, You may want to get some blood work done and see a doctor.

What your going through is not normal for your age!

I would go get a checkup. It could be simple anxiety or on a more severe note a lung infection or Heart Condition caused by poor diet or lack of fitness.ALL of these can be treated.
