Can someone please tell me what this means and what language it is? Its a song on one of my daughters DVD's and I was just curious as to what it meant. I know shalom means peace, and I believe its Jewish, but am not sure:

Havenu Shalom Alechem

Thanks!

Yep, that's Hebrew.

Hevenu (הבאנו)- We brought
Shalom (שלום)- Peace
Aleychem (עליכם)- Upon you

That is a traditional Jewish greeting that one says to his hosts when come to visit, or when one comes home from a long voyage. It is as if to say: my present to you is peace.

It's a Hebrew greeting, and also a traditional song. Roughly translated, it means something along the lines of "Peaceful greetings to you." Shalom alone means "peace" but is also used as a greeting.

Compare Arabic: Salaam Alaikum = Shalom Alechem = Peace on you. Not sure what the Arabic equivalent of Havenu is though.
