No one who is actively in the military is going to say anything negative about the war - it's my understanding that they can't even if they wanted to.

To Alex above....I thank your son for his service. The problem, however, is that the soldiers in Iraq AREN'T dying for the Americans who died on 9/11 - that's the whole point of the dissent to this war.

That is a good question. First my background. I just reenlisted in the Army National Guard after a 14 year break in service. Previous I had been a active duty Military Policeman and National Guardsman with 9 1/2 years of service. I served in the Republic of Panama during "Operation Just Cause" in the early 1990's. So I feel I am qualified to answer this." Believe in dying for a win less war?" Any war will have an end. it just may not end the way we wanted it to. and a soldier gets payed to fight not question. Dying as a soldier is an HONOR that can only be equal to a birth of a child. You die as others before you did. Its not about if the war is just or not, personally I believe we need to leave the Iraqis alone and let them fight it out .amongst them selves. Its just the right thing to do and participate I really do not think its patriotic it is just the ...............right thing to do. Those of you in the military i am sure understand otherwise you cant understand the concept."PANAMA"

the militia isn't given propaganda. And particular, we've self assurance in what we are doing. the project with maximum individuals is they do no longer see the different component of the war that we do. the information would not choose so you could be certain that. you do no longer see the Iraqi's embracing the infantrymen. you do no longer see the youngsters going to college that not at all did previously. you do no longer see women freely strolling the streets. you do no longer see human beings being allowed to vote. you do no longer see so lots greater. particular, the lack of ability of yank lives is tough to take, despite the fact that it extremely is the interest they signed as much as do. it extremely is not merely "taking orders". it is your interest. you could't connect and have self assurance you will not at all flow to war. you're incorrect approximately the standard public no longer desiring us there. the standard public DO choose for us there. The insurgents are the minority and are being supported via Syria and Iran. we are doing an astonishing interest at protecting them to a minimum volume. we are scuffling with for a valid reason. in keeping with possibility you and different individuals might like it handed off on American soil back, like WTC?? there have been WMD's. there became and is a reason. Saddam became a terrorist. Bush is not any warmonger, yet he has his ideals. there is not any longer something incorrect with that. it extremely is greater useful than previous presidents who've decrease the militia right down to no longer something and enable different international locations take great thing approximately us like the united statesCole and the WTC the 1st time. a minimum of Bush helps the troops and believes in them rather of cutting them down. If that did no longer answer your question, particular, we've self assurance Bush using fact the appropriate intentions in Iraq. end believing each and all of the biased information comments and propaganda that his combatants are putting accessible. there's a reason and maximum, yet no longer all i'm particular, have self assurance in it or they does no longer connect. All this for sure is a my own opinion. Others will provide theirs. despite the fact that, i'm no longer a brainwashed family contributors member and do have my opinion.

Actually, yes.

Having lived on Ft Bragg for years, and now another post that people train at in order to go to Iraq, most of them do support the war.

Yes, some in the military want out...some always will. But the majority do believe in what they are doing is the right thing.

Who says it's a winless war? You? THe democrats? The same democrats who supported a war in 98? Funny isn't it?

Guess we all can't sit on our laurels like varmint7 and not deal with the important issues in life....Like HUH bashing the military?

Every day I question why anyone should have the defend your worthless hide? But then I realize you are probably to dumb to know what you are talking about, so how even bother trying.

It might enlighten you to know that the military is all volunteer so we know exactly what we are signing up for. Anyone that says different is an idiot or a lair.

Seems Straightforward

I'm in the military, and I can tell you that lots of people in the armed services are against the war. Me? I really don't have an opinion.
I do what I'm told. I signed up- of my own accord, to serve my country. And that's what I'm doing.
When it comes down to it though; I don't care why Bush went into Iraq. When you're there, you're not fighting for him. You're fighting for the men and women on either side of you. You're there doing your job to the best of your ability so that maybe everyone will get to come home in one piece.
That's what most civilians tend not to realize. Soldiers are nothing if not loyal. Loyal to their country, their President, but mostly to each other.
So, generally speaking it doesn't really matter to us WHY we were sent over seas. What matters is that we all make it home.

I did my job well, and did my job honorably. Then when my turn came to ETS, I got my discharge and went my own way.

No, I don't support the reasons WHY we went to war. Yes, I do support our WAR for VICTORY in Iraq. We are winners, not losers.

Do I believe in dying for a winless war? No, I believe in going in there and kicking ***, to win the war. But the Bush admin isn't prosecuting this war well, they didn't know what they were getting us into, and they still have their heads in some fantasy of "transformational geopolitics" or whatever they call it.

I say, time to use some of our nuclear technology. I say, take off the white kid gloves. I say, yes-- kill women and babies, because women can be combatants too, and babies grow up to be killers. Kill them all. This is war. You think anything else, and you're in la la land.

I say, round up suspect Moslems, including Black Moslems, and put them into detention camps. I say, round up peace protesters, and put them into camps too. I say, fire Cheney and Rumsfeld, vote GW out of office, and carry out this war the way it needs to be done, to win it. Annihilate Moqtada al-Sadr and all the Sadr City. Fire bomb the place (nuking would contaminate the Euphrates and Tigris).

I say, "Win this war." Any of you who are not with us, you are against us, and need to sit down.

Let's do this all in the name of freedom, democracy, human rights, etc. Orwell would not know whether to weep or to laugh. That's the great thing about democracy (in theory) - even if you have an opinion differing from that of the majority, you don't have to "sit down."

Would you rather fight the terrorists here? Doing nothing is not an option. Yes I question things about the war as any thoughtful person would do and of course our son's and daughters dying over there is heart wrenching but we can't just ignore it anymore.
US Embassy bombing, 1993 WTC bombing, USS Cole Bombing, 9/11/01 WTC destruction thousands dead, 9/11/01 Pentagon attack100 dead, 9/11/01 hundreds of innocent passengers on planes killed. So what is your reasoning for NOT wanting action?
