Practice makes perfect. If you are not happy with 70wpm, then practice, practice and practice until you get what you want. That simple.

Its all about practice practice practice. Some people have a limited capability of just how fast they can type and think at the same time. If you can't go beyond the 70 wpm then that is probably your peak. I've been typing for almost 30 years, taught myself at the age of 9, and I currently type 104 wpm. I have improved during the years and increased, I stayed pretty much around 82-90 for several years and recently increased my speed, so its not impossible.

Keep practicing. My typing speed was 75 to 85 wpm in a manual typewriter, I practice by typing from magazines and newspapers. That was many years ago. I keep the same speed for years until I retired, now is about 50-70 wpm. Keep practicing.

Switching to Dvorak will allow you to break the 100wpm limit you get with QWERTY keyboards.
You don't need to buy a new keyboard, you can change a settings in Windows at Start > Control Panel > Regional > Language (tab) > Details (button) > Add (button)
My first source will explain the Dvorak keyboard layout, and the second is a Dvorak typing tutorial. Also, if you want to take this serious, you can buy some clear Dvorak stickers to put on your keyboard to make it easier.

Get more practice !!! Forget about the softwares .... find a book and start typing it from page one and set a target of 10 minutes.
The more you type/practise, the faster you become. There is not fast and easy route to it.
I type around 120 wpm.

you have reach a wall that's all. Keep practicing and practicing is about all you can do. If the software that you are using isn't keeping up with you that is a good thing. Find something more challenging to work with. Make a game out of it. Make it fun. Have someone time you. Then do your correction or spell check. you will reach your goal, it just time.
Good Luck

My suggestion is actually to get a keyboard that is not qwerty. This is because the qwerty keyboard is actually designed to make you type slower (it was a preventive method used on typewriters to prevent keys from jamming as easily). There are several alternatives on the market, just do a web search on alternative keyboards. at first you may be slow on the new layout but you can end up clocking speeds above 100 wpm. hope this helps.

When I left school mine was at 35wmp
I got a job in a lawyers office typing ALL day long.
Now it's at about 85wmp and I can't get it any higher... I think some people have it, and some don't - but practicing can't hurt

Google typing tests and just keep practicing there are some out there where you can select if you are a beginner or not.
