Make sure there is someone there that will have your back. It is your day and you don't need to be bothered with baby sitting your father. How does your Mother feel about this? The person that has your back should be someone that is able to handle your father and ask him to leave if he starts acting out like alcoholics will.

Do you want your father to be there? He might have recovered from being an alcoholic and try to change. If not he might embarassed you at the party. Why not talk to him and tell him to meet you somewhere else if he wanted to celebrate your birthday?

Let him come. He is your father, even though you may not agree with his ways, just accept that he does have a right to be in your life. If he gets out of hand, simply ask him to leave because his actions are not appopriate.

he is your father how are you going to tell your dad not to come to your birthday if if wasn't for him you wouldn't even be having one!! don't disrespect you dad because he has an "illness" does he love you? has he ever said that he doesn't love you? did he beat you when you were a child? come on he is your dad and he most likely loves you more than anything in this whole world and if you were any kind of daughter you would help him not ban him!!

Before all----he is your father, If he abused you when you were younger by no means would I invite him. But if this did not happen I would tell him that he is more than welcome as long as he leaves his booze at home and make it clear that he will be asked to leave should he not.

If you really don't want him then send him a message back saying that he wasn't invited.
Or say he can only come if he's sober, and does not drink there

he probably thinks that you would be happy to see him, it is obvious that he still cares about you, just be nice to him and let him in but do what the girl above me said and tell him to come and leave sober.
