In relation to a quote to get a carpet fitted...

"Your doors may require easing. We would appreciate it if you would make your own arrangements for this, alternatively we could arrange this at an extra charge."

What does this mean?

'Easing' is relieving a jamming door. In the case of carpeting it would most likely involve raisng the door so it does not 'scrape' on the newer thicker carpet. Watch yourself. This is often a scam to make more money. They put packing under the carpet near the door and then charge a small fortune to take the door off its hinges, plane half a centimetre off the bottom and then replace it.

Easing doors is the process of trimming a very small amount of wood from the bottom of the door so it will clear the surface of a new carpet. If your removing an old carpet and replacing with new of the same type, there should be no problem. if you are putting down new carpet in a room that hasn't had carpet before, the door may "stick" on the carpet 'cause there's not enough clearance. The process removes the door from the hinges (just remove the hinge pins) taking the door outside and using a circular saw or hand saw to trim about 1/2 inch of the bottom.

It means that when the new, thicker?? carpet is laid there may not be sufficient gap below the door to clear it without dragging the carpet. The door would normally be removed and an amount of wood planed or sawn off to give clearance. If you think this is likely you would probably be cheaper to call a joiner/ carpenter to remove all the doors at once prior to the carpet being fitted.

This is a job for the joiner/carpenter who will if your doors are sticking on your new carpets take the door off and use his plane to "ease" your door. This should not take very long and should not be costly.Get a few quotes if you think you are being charged too much.

I guess it didn't work the first time: "About eight months ago, starting in early September 2008, the Bernanke Fed did an abrupt about-face and radically increased the monetary base -- which is comprised of currency in circulation, member bank reserves held at the Fed, and vault cash -- by a little less than $1 trillion. The Fed controls the monetary base 100% and does so by purchasing and selling assets in the open market. By such a radical move, the Fed signaled a 180-degree shift in its focus from an anti-inflation position to an anti-deflation position. The percentage increase in the monetary base is the largest increase in the past 50 years by a factor of 10 (see chart nearby). It is so far outside the realm of our prior experiential base that historical comparisons are rendered difficult if not meaningless. The currency-in-circulation component of the monetary base -- which prior to the expansion had comprised 95% of the monetary base -- has risen by a little less than 10%, while bank reserves have increased almost 20-fold. Now the currency-in-circulation component of the monetary base is a smidgen less than 50% of the monetary base. Yikes!"

Shaving, sanding, plaining or sawing a wooden door so it will shut,
not as hard as it seems.
Take screws out of hinges, the ones holding door on,
remove door take of offending wood.
If door needs lifting, you may have to take wood of top or bottom of door. Some times just lifting door to clear is enough, fill screw holes with wood that you have cut to size with a knife, hammer in holes then screw` s will go in a bit higher than old holes.
Now fit door back, also you may have to move door catch a bit so it stays shut.

simply put it means that material[wood] may have to be removed from the base of the door due to the extra thickness of the carpet also a little extra to give clearance off the finished surface

The door might pull on your carpet.. you might need to take a little bit off the bottom of your door to stop it from doing this

So that carpet does not get stuck. Get a builder type or a friend to help, normally is not an issue.
