He wants to be single and have fun, but he wants to make sure you're waiting around if he doesn't score with any new girls.
I think you should ask yourself if you want a boyfriend who breaks up with you, wants space, then proceeds to confuse you by giving you conflicting messages. Is he worth this? And how long will you wait for him to get enough "space"?

He is either wanting space because your to clingy but he loves you and does not want to loose you, or he is afraid of actually being committed meaning a long relationship means marriage then kids and all of that and he does not want it to come to soon. Back off for a while and let him get his self back together, don't push him. good luck=}

SPACE to a boyfriend MEANS i wanna Scr_w someone else!!
He,s calling you & telling you these things to KEEP you hanging around in case things dont work out for him in the ladies department!!
Tell him to Fu_k off & STOP messing you around!!
After 10months if he,s NOT desparate to be with you he NEVER will be!!

i think it sounds like he thought you guys were just on a break. theres a difference between breaking up and going on a break. maybe you were just seeing each other too much, hence the needed space. you should definitely get back together if you feel the same way.

What about your space I'll bet it would be a different story if you were the one who told him that you need your space

Get busy, see friends, exercise hard, fill your time. Push him out of your mind. When he rings saying these things reply along the lines of "Yes, I miss you too - call me again when you really know what you want."
