Is any amnesty a reward to those breaking the law.? Giving amnesty to illegal aliens forgives their act of illegally entering the United States and in addition forgives related illegal activities such as driving illegally and working using false documents. An amnesty results in large numbers of foreigners who illegally entered the United States being given legal status as a reward for breaking the law. An amnesty benefits neither our society nor those being amnestied, but it does benefit employers who hire low-wage immigrant labor. An Immigration and Naturalization Service study found that after living in the United States for 10 years, the average amnestied illegal alien had only a seventh grade education and earned less than $9,000 a year. Amnestied illegal aliens have no sponsor to support them financially. Instead, by enacting an amnesty, Congress places a staggering financial burden on American taxpayers to support those amnestied.

Our political leaders are now facing the choice of representing the people who elected them or business' who offer them financial incentives to buy their votes. Not only are we rewarding those who break our laws and lower the standard of living for our own middle and lower class citizens we are penalizing those who have respected out laws and this country enough to take the legal path to come here. Hopefully those who have and will chose to represent the majority will be remembered at election time. (as should those who failed to do so) Now more than ever is the time to vote for the person rather than the party.

Technically yes, you can say its a reward for breaking the law, BUT it would be a more realistic solution than just scooping up and deporting all illegals. I am in favor of amnesty only if and when a there is a fence or wall put up. There must be a better way to keep them out implemented before granting any type of amnesty or guest work program. And you know, all I see here all the time is numbers, statistics, blah, blah blah, that dont mean a thing because all these numbers you all complain about could have been avoided if immigration laws were enforced to begin with, if welfare had a better system for investigating all ss#s given in case of fraud before approving benefits as well. How can we criticize people for taking what we give them when we're incompetent at enforcing our own laws and rules??!! You all can complain all you want that they drain this and take jobs, but THEY ARE ALREADY HERE!!!! Mass deportations and snipers at the border WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! Lets talk about real solutions, things that can be done that are actually doable and not extreme. Deport all the illegals in jails and gangs, the ones caught committing welfare fraud too. But lets also punish the americans committing the same crimes, or are we rewarding them simply for having been born here??!!

Offering Amnesty would be a huge mistake (again). Why reward these people for their invasion and breaking many laws.

And yes, it would certainly encourage others (as if they need further encouragement at this point) to invade. Make no mistake, this is an invasion that will eventually lead to another civil war.

The United States took a large portion of Mexico's land after the war. The Mexicans are now fighting a different kind of war. Very soon there will be no recourse for the United States because the anchor babies will out number true legal American citizens.

These people invade illegally, squirt out 10 kids (who, thanks to an absurd and outdated law are legal US citizens), and wait 15 or so years for the next generation to start the same process.

Very soon the "legal" majority will be comprised of illegal immigrants. (I refuse to acknowledge these children born from two illegal immigrants as US citizens, but the law disagrees).

Soon Amnesty wont even matter.

A Hispanic activist group claims that 1/3 of the illegal immigrants here today are family of those given amnesty in 1986. Their point of view is that family should have been provided for too, but what I take from it is that if you give one group amnesty, their entire family will come.

I think that really needs to be looked at.

that's expected that a nil.33 of the illegals here at the instant are family of those amnestied in 1986. there's a cap on what number family based residencies there are, and that they surpassed over it. If there is an amnesty, there might might desire to be loss of residency and deportation to anybody who sheltered an unlawful thereafter, as nicely. Bringing further family may well be catastrophic, given the numbers already here.

Well, I support an earned legalization proposal that will allow undocumented immigrants to legalize their status if they have been in the United States for a certain amount of time, have been working, and can pass a background check. This makes sense for the economy, provides fairness to people who have worked hard and paid taxes, and will also allow us to strengthen our homeland security by bringing undocumented workers out of the shadows. Of course no amnesty for immigrants with a felony....

Amnesty is a reward for bravery in crossing the border in dangerous conditions and being a good person.
