Two women have tragic things happen.

Helena's baby dies while she is delivering her child. The baby doesn't draw breath and so, according to you, is soulless. It poofs out of existance and Helena gets eternity with no baby.

Alecia's baby draws one breath and dies, BUT since it drew a breath...has a soul and lives forever in heaven.

So for those of you who think this way - there seems to be a lot. Doesn't it seem...unfair to say the least?

Self awareness starts sometime after the nervous system has formed and there is sufficient brain mass. This is past the 90 day point after conception.
Soul is a human concept that gives that process some metaphysical supposed meaning

Yeah, I've got some good news and some bad news about that whole "soul" thing.

And why should someone who hasn't had a chance to prove themselves be allowed into Heaven? If you believe that a "soul" sits in a room in Heaven and waits to be born, at which time it goes down to Earth and inhabits a baby's body, then you shouldn't have a problem with the notion of that very same "soul" being sent back to try it again if they stay for less than a few days. Seriously is that idea any more ridiculous than the notion of should sitting around waiting to be born????

The idea that a "soul" enters the baby at birth does not come from the Bible. In fact, that's an argument of theistic pro-abortion advocates. They figure that if they can convince you that a baby isn't really "human" before birth, then it's OK to kill it.
A baby is completely human, including the "soul", from conception. The life that a baby receives at conception is the same "breath of God" that was breathed into Adam, that's just been passed down uninterrupted from generation to generation - like passing a flame from candle to candle.
If you try to argue that the soul enters the baby at birth, you run into all kinds of ethical and theological problems, like the above scenario.

Yes a baby doesnt have a soul until it draws its first breath, is that so hard for you to understand? or has your religion brainwashed you too badly? Look lady the bible doesnt have all the answers to the world problems, if anything the bible has made the world worse rather than better. Also i believe in reincarnation, my body had two souls in it because im not human, but something went wrong and now im bound to the body and the other soul got kicked out.

It all depends on what you believe. In Catholicism if a baby dies without being baptized it goes into limbo. ( I believe that God has a especial place for his precious creatures specially babies) Concerning the soul, the baby receives it a the time of conception when sperm and egg meet! The soul is what will eventually return to God! The Guff is where souls are waiting to be born!!

Its hard to tell if there was a soul or not because we arent God and we dont have that kind of knowledge. In heaven we are perfect and do not know grief or unfairness. If the baby never drew breath then God allowed it to be so, and the mother has a lesson to learn either for personal growth or because she needed the reference point to be able to successfully console another in life that might turn to God one day. Then again, a lot in life isnt fair now is it?

I believe from Biblical Interpretation that a baby has a soul while in utero. "Now the word of the LORD came to me saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." (NAS, Jeremiah 1:4-5)

It is very unfair .....IF you think the soul is something that enters you at birth.
The soul, however, is NOT something that enters at birth.
Please note Genesis 2:7 where it states man BECAME a living soul.
Its from the verb ....to be.
Man IS a soul.
It doesn't say man HAD a soul, or received a soul, or obtained a soul.
He BECAME a soul.
Therefore we ARE a soul ....enough already of the verb 'to have'!

It's not unfair. Helena's baby never had a soul, so it has reached its end. Alecia's baby had a soul; the body died when the soul was already in it, and so that soul will be reborn in a new body.

Yes both situaitions are tragic for a woman who wants a baby. It is important to realise that these rules concerning the soul are man made. Who are we to impose logical conclusions on such delicate situations? I think that at this stage in the 'game' we have a right to impose our own 'rules' in regard to such personal questions. If you are a strong believer then you must have a personal relationship with God and/or Jesus and to me that means allowing yourself to go with your 'heart' on these matters.
