* The seeds inside the kernels may be eaten.

Getting the seeds out - Cut the pomegranate in half, hold the cut side down over a bowl and tap the skin firmly with a wooden spoon. The seeds should simply fall into the bowl ready for eating.

The whole idea behind eating a pomegranate is patience. First peel away the red leathery skin then remove the top and the bottom. Pry open the fruit and pull seeds out and into bowl. Continue to extricate the remaining seed until done. Now all you need to do is rinse off the seeds (it helps to get rid of the bitter white pith) drain and enjoy them.

The easiest (and most traditional) is to cut in half and dig out with a pin. What I always do is to get a sharp knife, carefully cut off top and bottom, carefully peel a fair bit of it until you can pull it apart, and then, by hand, remove all of the fruit into a bowl. I then eat it with a spoon. It takes a while but is well worth the extra effort.

Well, I cut it in half, hit the skin side of each half with a wooden spoon, with the pomegranate aimed over a bowl to remove the seeds. Then for a simple tasty dessert, add a few crushed meringues and some whipped cream, mix together and it's sooo good! enjoy!

Saw Nigella Lawson cut the beast in half and bash each half on the outer skin with a wooden spoon so that the seeds fell into a bowl. How easy is that? I was amazed I had wasted most of my formative pre Christmas years picking away at the things with a pin. It was just my mother's clever ruse to keep me from looking for the Christmas presents.

We cut them in half and pick out the seeds with a pin could also try cutting in 1/4 or 1/8 and bending the slices back a bit like you would an orange (remember pretending you cad orange peel teeth?) and eating the seeds but beware of the pith it tasts nasty

As grenadine syrup with the following recipe:
Vampire's Delight

grenadine

Combine banana, rum and ice cream in a blender. In two champagne flutes swirl grenadine until the red syrup coats the inside of the cup. Add banana mixture. Serve with cherry.
