Cats have a natural instinct to hunt, considering the cat goes out doors, you are always taking the chance of her bringing in prey. The reason she hide when you yelled, is because she didn't understand why you were so angry, she isn't able to determine that prey stays outside and isn't allowed in. The poor kitty is just probably confused on why she disappointed you. Have a great Halloweens.

She was shamed and frightened.
Cats, like people, don't like being yelled at. They also have a natural instinct to hunt. If she brought it in the house, odds are she was bringing you a present. Cats catch things like bird, bugs, etc. and bring them to humans as a way of saying, "I respect your authority over me."
She was probably afraid of you because cats do not understand WHY humans get angry and that is scary. If she does it again, don't yell at her. Just say firmly, "No!", without yelling. After deposing of the worm, go and pet her.

She hid because you yelled at her! Why does it surprise you she brought in a worm? Cats have that hunting instinct in them. What is she doing outside anyways? She should be kept indoors!!

They say to give your cat praise when it does this becuase the cat thinks that it is doing you a favor by bringing you food! So it gets confused when you yell at it for doing so.... Next time tell her what a good kitty she is and take whatever it is she brought in back outside...

You scared her!! Cats are not like dogs you cannot rebuke them like that. She had no idea that she was doing something wrong. In fact cats bring small animals and creatures home as a gift. Be gentle with her and give her lots of cuddles when she next comes in, to make up for yelling at her.

Because it wiggles. :) Cats have varying tastes in toys... but a LOT of cats think bugs are way cooler than any feathery toy you can buy for them. :) I have cats that will jump four feet in the air after a fly! I'm sure worms would be a huge hit... but my cats don't go outside, so I guess we'll never know.

What's wrong with that? it's only a worm. Being yelled at scared her. I would hate to see what you would do if she brought in a rat, cats are hunters and will do this sort of thing, she brought it to show you how cleaver she is

You scared her and took away her natural instints. She didn't know what she did was wrong. You should go and love her and make her feel OK again.
Next time just remove the worm and say nothing to her.
Please don't yell at your cat.

They bring you gross stuff they caught to say hey look what I did for you, (to them they are showing you that they caught an intruder) when you yelled at her she ran because she thought she was doing something good. I had a cat that used to bring me all sorts of rubbish, (dead mice, birds, pipe cleaners, etc.) but they think they are doing us a favor next time just take it away or keep her inside so this doesn't happen again.
