You don't need Lawyer.
Just call the church office and ask them to destroy records.
Or you could go by and pick them up if you don't trust them.
Some churches have to vote on such things but it is only a formality.

I sincerely doubt that there's a "law" to enforce deletion of all records. Besides, imagine the time and money required to go back and examine each and every attendance sheet to see if YOU signed it. How would you expect the church to destroy that one checkbox or line on the form?

Before wasting your time, energy and money by breeding lawyers, why not simply put your request in writing to the particular church and see what's possible and what's not? It sounds like there are some serious issue(s) at play here and maybe the church won't mind at all being dissociated.

Good luck and best wishes.

It is totally done by the laws of the church and the that can only be chak=llenged with a court order. Churches remain on the records for tax purposes.

My dad had a similar problem with them. They kept refusing to remove his name. His solution was cheaper than hiring a lawyer.

He set up a meeting with the bishop and told him "If you don't remove my name, I'm running an ad in the paper like THIS" and smacked down an ad that said "THE LDS CHURCH REFUSES TO REMOVE MY NAME FROM THEIR RECORDS!!!"

The bishop said, "we'll take care of that for you then. Thank you sir!"

Good luck!

Yes they are required to remove it at your request. Make sure you give them a written request. I would think if you gave them oral and written asking them to remove you from the list that would be enough for you. Why get a laywer? You did what you needed to do if they do not follow then it is wrong of them and God see's that.

As far as I know it is only a request, they arn't obligated to do anything.
