My doctor recently prescribed Zoloft to help my depression. I have not begun taking it. I've researched this medicine and found some disturbing stories of severe weight gain. I've taken Lexapro in the past and it made me gain a ton of weight. I've also taken Wellbutrin in the past with no adverse weight gain side effects. I've researched the drug Cymbalta and haven't found any stories of weight gain. I'm thinking of suggesting this drug to my doctor to see if he will switch my prescriptions. Has anyone taken Cymbalta with a success story to share?

I personally haven't taken it, but a good friend of mine has. He's tried pretty much every kind of antidepressant there is, to no avail. He's on Cymbalta now and it really seems to be working for him. He's even lost weight and looks great. I know that Cymbalta works on norepinephrine and serotonin, so you may have a different effect than just with a SSRI. Good luck!

I haven't been on Cymbalta- however I have been on lexapro, prozac, zoloft, and now I am on Welbutrin.

The only issue with Cymbalta is that there is a horrible withdraw (discontinuation syndrom) as bad as Effexor. So while it has little to no side effects, you might end up feeling shitty if you ever go off it. So if you are put on it and you have to stop taking it, make sure you don't just quit it but slowly taper it off.

There are some nice sites below about both Zoloft and Cymbalta.

There are such a lot of medicines for despair and nervousness it's complex to mention. SSRIs have nasty gastrointestinal aspect results. There constantly appears to be a exchange off among efficacy, dosage and aspect results. Maybe her health practitioner might refer her to a psychiatrist. They spend nearly all of their days prescribing medicines that support with intellectual wellbeing.

All meds have side effects and the key is finding one that doesn't bother you . I was on celexa and it ripped up my stomach bad. If you find one that works and the side effects aren't too bad stay with it. good luck
