I want to date one but someone told me that in general they
(a) do not date
(b) if they do, they will only date from their own caste
Anyone know more about this?

You really cannot generalise. Some Indian women don't date if they're waiting for their parents to choose a husband for them but in this day and age most will date. While it is true that many will date a fellow indian who also shares the same religion (hindu with hindu, muslim wth muslim etc), this is more because they do not want to risk upsetting their families than due to racism. This is the case even amongst the more westernised Indian women. A friend of mine (brought up in london) once said this to me - "What people don't realise is that I am not just X , an individual - I am my parents' daughter as well, I am my brothers' sister. I can't just divorce my family and think about me. Everything I do will either have a negative or positive effect on my family. It's very hard for me to go against them because my family means the world to me". My friend was at the time and still is dating a white guy. Her family however, doesn't know about him yet so i don't know how that will end! What I do know is that she is in a terrible dilemma. She is a pampered and much loved daughter who adores her family (and her family expects her to marry within her race) but she is also in love with a white guy.
Some parents will let their daughters date out of their race because some Indian girls are very independent and will date whoever they choose to date anyway. It all depends on the girl's personality, her family and the environment in which she was brought up.

They date but depending on the girl and which part if India they come from and their religion, some do not date and depend on their parents to find a "husband" for them. I've been told (by an indian girl) that "love marriages" (marriages as a result fo dating) have a high divorce rate, that's why many girls still prefer for arranged marriages. And if she is gonna have a arranged marriage she is forbidden to date.

Yes the majority dont. Dates are arranged between parents for an arranged marriage. Things are slowly changing in India and young indians are making there own choices nowadays.

No it is not true.
But it istrue that they use their brains.
They do not date just for sex.
As far as caste is concerned, the girls that will date do not care about caste.
