You can. The vaccine for shingles was just approved by the FDA this year. However, I'm not sure if you're eligible since you've already had shingles.

Shingles is the same virus that causes chicken pox, if you had chicken pox, there is a 30% chance of getting shingles as and adult, and since the virus "hides" in your nervous system, you will always carry the virus. They have just recently created a vaccine for shingles, but I think it is a prevenative vaccine and not something to "cure" shingles ... you might check with a doctor on this.

I feel for you. I have heard that shingles can be really painful. And, yes, I think you can get it repeatedly.
I'm not sure if there is any type of vaccine for it yet, but check with your doctor. I think shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox and if you have ever had chicken pox then you are at risk of getting shingles sometime during your life. Nowadays I think they give kids vaccines for chicken pox though.

The herpes zoster virus is in your body and you cannot get rid of it. You can have future outbreaks. There's no shot that I am aware of that prevents an outbreak. I advise you to see your doctor about anitivral therapy.
