This joke worked better before women's lib / emancipation. Now women rule the world. 60 years ago, no one would assume the doctor, especially a surgeon was his mother, now they can't believe the far more intelligent mother would allow her son to get into a car with this obvious idiot of a father who can't keep himself from having car crashes with his son in the car.
