It could be any number of things. I assume you're not hung over or smoked a lot and did get a good nights sleep. If you have pink eye you need drops from the doctor, pink eye is contagious and if is isn't and it persists you need to see an ophthalmologist to rule out Iritis. Iritis in the eye is caused by an underlying illness, so it is important to make sure, it has gone away and if not ,go ASAP

Blood shot eyes are usually caused from fatigue, allergies, irritation or dehydration even. Everyone always says visine which does take the red out but it actually constricts blood vessels in the eyes and can cause damage from use. The best thing to use is saline solution to lubricate your eyes and get plenty of water and rest . Seek a ophthalmologist if it persist.

Your eye being blood shot can be many things.
1: A punch or knock to the eye = Will clear on its own
2: Smoky atmosphere - get out of it and will clear up in time.
3:To much drink and hungover = Stop drinking for a while it will clear up
4:Not enough sleep = Take more sleep it will get better
5: Burst blood vessal due to knock will clear in time
If none of the above apply please go to the doctors as eye sight is very important and you need to make sure it is nothing serious. Many illness can cause blood shot eye and I am not going to scare you by listing them.

Not counting substance abuse ... eyestrain or dry eyes. The best cure is rest but a quick fixer-upper is eye drops.
