why is the indonesian government attacking acehnese people?? when they themselves are fighting for an independant islamic state???? do they want an independant islamic state for themsleves

well you have a wrong statement, indonesia is a republic country like america..not a muslim country...
the difference is if america major population are christian (correct me if i'm wrong), here in indonesia the major population are moslem..
we don't say america is a christian country just because their major population are christian, rite?? then, it should be the same to indonesia..
and i don't like the usage of word "attacking" in your question because indonesian government not attack acehnese people..
indonesian government was againts a group of people called Gerakan Aceh Merdeka who wanna declared Aceh as an independent muslim country separated from Indonesia..
this is the main problem since Indonesia not want to lose Aceh as one of their provinces and not all of Acehnese people agreed with the GAM objective..
So i don't think it's purely about religion..but about the whole nation integrity..

We studied that. Teacher said, it is kind of like the civil war in this country. They live in Asia and Africa and they are all muslim.
But they have different governments and armys and dictators.
They are fighting for the ability to goven more land.
Like the civil war, they have issues that can't seem to be settled with out war. One party wants to rule and they think the way they worship is right and the others are wrong.
So to the victor goes the spoils. There is oil there and he who has the oil rules the world.
They would like you to believe it is over religion, but those oil wells mean a lot of money and some proclaimed religious leaders are using religion to get their people to fight for the land to get the oil and the income it brings in.
As usual it is all about the money

They are giving in to U.S. pressure...just like Saudi (they changed their school textbooks and stoped funding Islamic schools outside the itself), Tunsia...who is thinking to enforce a hijab ban.

indonesia is a republic country...not muslim country...
indonesia is different ...we are the biggest moslem people in the world..but indonesia not only moslem religion...
we have christian , chatolic , budhism , hindusm..
we fight terorist...not moslem..
