I know from personal experience! There is this old man he sexually abused his 4 daughters for many years, he claims to be a christian and he was physically abusive as well. well, as the story goes on his children had children and now he's a grandfather and one of his teenage grand daughter came to live with him and their grand mother. To make a long story short, he was having sex with his grand daughter and his mentally disabled daughter, he was heavily medicating them so they will be zombies and under his control, antway, the mother let her daughter go to stay with him, assuming he has changed, eventhough nothing legally was done to him in the past. His grand daughter took him to court and found him guilty and he spent 5 years in prison, anyway, he is out and have to register as a sex offender. He might have got help, but, his mentally ill daughter still lives with them and the grand mother's in denial. he has grand children now! I want to know if a sex offender can change. Ithinknot!

I have a degree in Criminology, and was always taught that sex offenders CANNOT be changed....they can be treated, but they cannot be cured. They will always have the impulses that made them a sex offender, but with help, they can control those impulses.
Regardless, I wouldn't leave my child alone with any known sex offender...whether they're being treated or not. Maybe it's unfair to judge them and assume they will do it again, but better safe than sorry.

I would say no. No person who can abuse and mistreat his own children and gran children should EVER be trusted with children. Its like taking an alcoholic into a bar - it just should never be trusted as OK.
And it is unbelievable that a daughter who was sexually abused by her father would send her child to the same fate. That is a seriously sick individual.

In most cases people can change but when there sexual offenders, I believe not. He's been convicted, served time and had to register as a sex offender, well he'll do it again. Maybe if he hadn't actually performed, then maybe, but under the circumstances I WOULDN'T LET MY KIDS AROUND HIM...

I am surprised that the courts allow his mentally ill daughter to live with him! People can change but it doesn't sound as if he has shown any colors of change.

Once a person enjoys doing something they will always want to do it. That will never change. Maybe therapy can help people realize why they do it, and help them control the urges, but this is no guarantee. They will always want to do it.

i think this....it would be hard to believe that someone like that could change but ... nothings impossiable for God to do. This is like anything you would go to not do anymore like drugs drinking etc.. the person has to have much power within themselves to still changed. Only the people that are around him everyday could really answer that question.

I don't think so. Once they get in that frame of mine then people don't really change. I mean i guess that if they get help and take classes or something then they could maybe change but i think that they would always have that fantasy in the back of their minds yeah know?

No, once a person has passed through that twice or eve once they don't change. why? because they already like the felling and they and the felling of being in control.
