No. Harsh – but that’s reality, and it sucks. I’m a fairly open minded person but I would not be willing to take the chance. Sex is important to me in a relationship. It’s not everything, but I do believe it’s a necessary part for a healthy one. I would not be able to freely open myself up to my partner when it comes to sexual relations because it would always be in the back of my mind of ‘what if I become infected’. This isn’t just a life-long disease you catch. This is one where, as of now, death is a certainty. I value love, but I value my own life more.

Of course. Everybody has a past and everybody has made mistakes. Just because you date them doesn't mean you have to be intimate with them. And if the time comes when you want to take the relationship to another level, you just have to take precautions or be willing to take the risk of contracting the disease yourself.
