She is in her mid 20s and her husband is out of town on business for a while. I thought about taking her to dinner but that is pretty generic. Any ideas?

You must really love your sister to do that. I think no matter what you do for her she will love it. Sounds like you are close. I would love to have my brother take me to dinner for my Bay. Take her to her fave place to go she will love it!!!

Maybe taking her somewhere where you two used to go when you were young. Taking her to movies and afterward to dinner sounds nice; you will be able to catch up ;have fun!

how about you call her friends and have a little surprise party after work? that's what my brother did for me, and I loved it, or have them all meet you at a restaurant and have a little get together, each one can pay for their food, and of course you can pay for your sister's! But she has the biggest present already, she has a brother like you that would go out of his way to give her a nice surprise.

That's so sweet to care about your sis!
but maybe she doesn't want to be a lone with her brother on her bithday
you could write her a check in an envelop with a nice card(she won't say no)

Do anything you think she will like, like for example..if she loves art...take her to the museum for the day or the beach and have a picnic with her kids 9if she has any).

Be a brother and ask her how you can help her or invite her to an evening or day out with family/friends.
