kitty is looking for praise - maybe don't let kitty outside.....

Yeah… no. The cat will do this as a way of giving presents to you, or seeking praise. It is completely natural for the cat to hunt, punishing it will not help in the least.
My best, advice and this has worked for me, is that if you catch the cat while the bird is still alive, stare the cat in the eye, use a disappointed voice, and tell the cat to let it go. If it does not then approach the cat (do not let your eyes leave the cats eyes) and once again tell them to let it go (this time in a more stern voice).
If the cat still refuses then I am not sure what you should do. I have taught my cats to listen to me, so I’m not sure what to do if you have not.

Depends on the cat... but your best bet is to keep your cat indoors (kitty and birds will all be safer that way). I had ONE cat who brought me a bird once (I'd had him a few weeks and nursed him back from a very scared and sickly state)... I scolded him for it saying "NO! You killed the poor birdie!!! You can't DOOOO that!!!!", etc. in a very sad, disappointed voice. Funny as it sounds... he sulked off and stayed away from me the rest of the day. I had that cat 12 more years and he never once so much as LOOKED at another bird (even when we had them in the house!). But he was an unusual cat - VERY bonded to me - so you probably won't have the same success in most cats. I learned long ago that indoor cats live MUCH longer than outdoor ones. Just keep kitty inside.

We are also having a similar problem. We had a stray show up at our house, and we have been feeding her, but leaving her outside. She has within the timeframe of about 2 weeks killed: several mice, ground moles, a baby rabbit, and a dove. All of these were brought to our front porch and laid at our front door. My husband says that she is doing this as some sort of gift to us of appreciation. I honestly don't think you can prevent something like this from happening, unless you keep the cat inside at all times. It is unfortunately in their nature to hunt and kill, especially birds and rodents. I hope this helps you to know that others like myself are being disgusted too with our cats! lol

Your lucky that your cat does this. They catch birds , mice , and rats to bring to thier owners . Kind of like a little gift. They should get prasise to do that . Causer some cat's dont do that. But if you dont like it. Put a coller , but make sure it's the break away coller . And put a bell . It will warn off thier prey. When your cat trys to kill it. Good luck , hope this helps.

Best solution is to keep your cat in the house, use a litter box and get rid of the doggie door. Cats are natural hunters and when outside, they will hunt. Have you tried a collar with a bell on it? For the sake of your cat and dogs, I'd suggest not letting them in and out of the house randomly with the doggie door, though.

Try putting a couple bells on his collar, the birds are likely to hear the bells and fly away before the cat is able to catch his prey. Have a great Halloween.

Your cat is really paying you a compliment. He is bringing you food because he appreciates you. He won't stop because he doesn't understand that this is not a good thing. Just watch him when you put him outside and maybe scare all the birds away before he tries to catch anymore.

Since its a cats nature to hunt...and birds are part of its normal pray...and fact the cat see's you as its master.....you can't.

What the cat is doing is actually brining you presents to thank you for all you do.

Most you can do is stop letting the cat out or blocking off the kitty door, etc.

Mom had a cat that would do this and bout drove her nuts.

Its a natural thing. Our cats kill rats and mice and leave them on the porch. You just have to clean it up- its part of being a cat ownder. Just watch the cat, and when it has a bird, don't let it inside.

Leave your cat in the house or if he must go outside get a BREAK-AWAY collar with a bell.

You should be flattered that your cat thinks enough of you to bring you presents!!!
