It is a fairly old invention called the finger. You either use it to push the power button on the remote or on the front of your T.V.

Well I just have too add one
Step one pick up remote/ if you don't have remote get out of the chair.
Step 2 Push the power on the remote / if you don't have a remote extend index finger.
Step 3 push the power on the TV usually on the front but if it old you may have too turn the nob too on.

You gotta rub it a little bit. Maybe talk dirty to it. Some TVs like it rough, but I don't know if yours does. Basically touch the buttons a lot, play with them in a sensual way. That should turn the TV on I think.
